Reader: ranging from £53,174 to £65,371 plus £3,223 London Weighting Allowance per annum

The School of Education, Communication & Society, has a prestigious reputation and is renowned for its teaching and research expertise across three themes; science and mathematics education, language, culture and communication, and public policy. The School’s mission is to work for the public good through research and teaching focused on education in its broadest sense, and draws upon a wide range of theoretical and disciplinary excellence by working with colleagues across the School and Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy.

This position presents a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced science education specialist to lead the research and teaching programme of a world renowned science education team, and to further enrich its reputation by forging new collaborations, extending existing projects and developing new lines of research. The group attracts high-calibre PhD students, who benefit from internal funding through the Rosalind Driver Scholarship Fund. The science education group also runs an ‘Outstanding’ PGCE Science course and has co-developed an innovative Master’s degree in STEM Education which will launch in 2019.

The post holder will play a key role in the leadership and mentoring of colleagues in the well-established science education team and the Centre for Research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education (CRESTEM). They will contribute to teaching and doctoral supervision and conduct and publish outstanding research in science education, obtain external funding for new research projects, and help to promote a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond CRESTEM.

This is a full-time appointment.
