About us

Imperial College London is a science-based university with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Its Graduation Day ceremonies are held at the iconic Royal Albert Hall and run to exacting standards with complex logistics and high-quality communications and hospitality. The ceremonies are the largest in the UK, with approximately 20,000 participants coming together to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding students, staff and supporters. Graduation is an intrinsic part of the student lifecycle and the first step on the alumni journey.

Duties and responsibilities

Managing a team of 3, you will ensure that the graduation ceremonies are delivered smoothly and effectively, providing a memorable experience for all those participating and in keeping with the College’s excellent reputation. As well as the strategic planning, review and improvement of Graduation, you will:

  • Oversee the volunteer recruitment process, ensuring volunteers are well-briefed and deployed in suitable roles
  • Develop and deploy a College-wide approach for Graduation, building effective and successful partnerships with colleagues across the College, as well as with senior leadership
  • Identify best practice and improvements to the student experience of Graduation, managing a structured roll-out to implement these changes
  • Oversee the graduand communication process and ensure that the large volume of incoming enquiries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner

Essential Requirements:

You will have proven experience in organising complex, large-scale events such as graduation ceremonies (or comparable equivalent) and are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. A creative problem solver, you can produce high-quality work under pressure and can motivate your team to do the same. Calm and confident, you have outstanding communication skills, political acuity and a proven ability to build and maintain successful working relationships at all levels.
